It takes a dedicated, innovative and compassionate team to serve such a unique mission. Working effectively together as a team allows us to deliver the maximum care possible. The ability to work with dementia care patients is not a simple task, however, our staff finds it most rewarding. We support everyone and offer structured “team-building” workshops annually.
Teamwork was the focus of a recent employee retreat. With the use of an outdoor facility, high and low ropes courses were combined with team-building activities to develop the core values of caring, trust, honesty, respect, responsibility and fun.
“Watching co-workers strategize how to get the entire group on a suspended log without touching the ground carries over to problem-solving in the workplace,” said Eileen O’Connor Smith, Director of Nursing. “Employees on all shifts learned to use one another’s strengths and communicate through any difficulties to achieve success.”
“This is what we value in each other for the care of our residents,” Ms. Smith said. “There are no other organizations like us in Connecticut, and only a few nationally can approximate our level of service and focus.”
