We offer courses designed for professional caregivers who have completed the Dementia Care Specialist Training program and are seeking knowledge and expertise. Current course offerings include:

Team Building for Dementia Care
Each member of the healthcare delivery team helps to create an environment that enhances each person’s abilities. Participants learn strategies to engage other members of the dementia care team from nursing, recreation, housekeeping, dietary, and family members to work collaboratively for improved individual outcomes.

S.A.F.E. Response Techniques TMThis workshop helps caregivers to better understand the special needs of individuals with dementia. Learn appropriate verbal and physical responses to avoid and respond to crisis situations.

Dining with Friends TMThis program is designed to enhance dignity, increase socialization and restore the joy of sharing a meal together. Care providers learn strategies for adapting to the changes in eating habits that occur with dementia, and help to create a dining experience that can be a social and fun activity for everyone.

Creating a Therapeutic Environment
Explore the benefits of creating meaningful and engaging activities for individuals with dementia in all settings – at home, or in adult day, assisted living or skilled care settings. Participants gain an understanding of person-centered care and the ability to develop activities for stage specific care.

Understanding and Unraveling Behaviors
Individuals with dementia may behave in challenging ways, attempting to fulfil their unmet needs. Instead of attempting to “manage difficult behaviors”, care providers will explore how understand and unravel behaviors for a more successful approach to create and sustain calm.

Maintaining Independence for the Person with Dementia
Learn creative ways to encourage and sustain individual independence and explore new approaches to accomplishing daily routines, such as bathing, oral care, dressing, personal care, mobility and other normal activities.
